Origin of Don Pepin Cigars
The story began in 1950, when Jose Pepin Garcia was born
into a renowned cigar rolling family in Cuba. Post a decade, when 11-year old
kids use to play with their friends after school, Jose use to sit at rolling
table learning about his trade business. His passion for the tobacco industry
continued to evolve throughout his adult life because he got inspired from his
generations of tobacco growing.
Jose Pepin Garcia along with few of his best Cuban Cigar
rollers opened his first cigar factory in Havana in 2003, thus created his own
legacy. Garcia with his best torcedores began selling his first premium
creations to the neighborhood locals. By making top-quality sticks that were
robust, flawlessly constructed, and aromatic, he swiftly emerged as one of the
handful manufacturers that began gathering fame from the entire nation.
After producing the original Don Pepin Garcia Classico,
Garcia’s business really took off, and Jose Pepin and his family are now proud
owners of two factories, headquartered in Doral, which is a boutique factory
comprising of a team of twelve cigar rollers who are trained by Don Pepin
himself. The other factory is the Garcia Family Industrial Park in Nicaragua,
where more than three hundred cigar rollers perfectly make Don Pepin products
on a daily basis.
Debuting in 2007, El Centurion was a limited edition cigar
that was available in three different sizes
with only 850 cigars made of each size. The company reached the acme of
success in 2012 when Cigar Aficonado Magazine awarded the My Father Flor de Las
Antillas Toro the cigar of the year. DonPepin and My Father Cigars laid the foundation for the success of the
company.
However, the family of Garcia continues to pass on the legacy and follow the tradition of excellence they lived and inherited in Cuba. While, Jose along with his daughter and his son are poised to keep their brands flourishing for many years to come. Garcia’s son Jamie was a talented blender in his own way and secretly began to work on his own project.
